Seplat Energy says billionaire investor Tony Elumelu will become chairman in January 2027, while veteran executive Effiong Okon takes over as CEO in August 2026.
Tony Elumelu has been named Chairman-elect of Seplat Energy in a major leadership transition announced by the company.
According to the company, Elumelu will assume the position effective January 1, 2027, while veteran oil and gas executive Effiong Okon will become Chief Executive Officer from August 1, 2026.
The announcement marks a significant restructuring within the energy firm as it moves into a new phase of corporate leadership.
Seplat said Okon, who has more than three decades of industry experience, will succeed Roger Brown as CEO. The company also confirmed that current chairman Udoma Udo Udoma will retire at the end of 2026.
The board stated that the succession arrangement is intended to support the company’s long-term strategic direction and its broader growth plans.
The transition comes as Seplat continues to expand its footprint within Nigeria’s energy sector following recent acquisitions and operational growth initiatives.
