Former Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, saying Nigeria is moving in the right direction under the government’s ongoing economic reforms.
Murray-Bruce specifically highlighted reforms in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, arguing that the administration’s policies are beginning to transform the industry.
In a statement shared on social media, the former lawmaker said Tinubu deserved commendation for the reforms being implemented in the sector.
“Nigeria is moving in the right direction. Tinubu deserves commendation for the reforms transforming Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.”
Murray-Bruce’s comments come amid continuing debate over the impact of the Tinubu administration’s economic policies and the reforms introduced since 2023.
The oil and gas sector remains central to Nigeria’s economy, with the Federal Government seeking to attract greater investment and unlock previously delayed projects.
President Tinubu recently approved a new regulatory and fiscal framework for deep-water oil and gas projects, with the Federal Government projecting that the initiative could attract up to $50 billion in investment.
Murray-Bruce has also recently moved into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), further placing his comments within the wider political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His remarks are likely to add to the ongoing national conversation over whether the administration’s economic reforms are delivering the desired transformation and how Nigerians are experiencing their effects.
