The Federal Government says it is deploying every available measure, including international collaboration, to secure the safe return of teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
President Bola Tinubu has assured residents of Oyo State and the wider South-West that the Federal Government is intensifying efforts to secure the release of teachers and students abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area.
The President disclosed that the government is deploying all available resources, including international collaboration, to ensure the victims are rescued safely while also addressing the broader challenge of insecurity across the country.
Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, during the commissioning of the remodelled Premier Hotel in Ibadan, Tinubu said the administration remains committed to tackling the rising cases of banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.
He reassured residents that every realistic measure was being taken to secure the release of the abducted victims without avoidable loss of life.
The President also urged Nigerians to support security agencies through intelligence sharing and community cooperation, stressing that traditional rulers and religious institutions have important roles to play in safeguarding communities.
According to him, lasting economic growth can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and security. He added that the administration has continued to strengthen the country’s security architecture through improved intelligence gathering, enhanced inter-agency collaboration, technological surveillance and increased support for security agencies.
Tinubu further disclosed that efforts are ongoing at the National Assembly to strengthen policing structures across the country, expressing optimism that current security reforms would continue to yield positive results.
He maintained that the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring that Nigerians, investors and visitors can live, work and conduct business in a safe environment while efforts continue to secure the release of the abducted teachers and students.
