President Bola Tinubu says the economic reforms implemented by his administration have placed Nigeria on a path toward becoming a $1 trillion economy.
Tinubu made the declaration as his administration continues to defend its economic policies, including reforms aimed at strengthening public finances, attracting investment and improving the country’s long-term growth prospects.
The trillion-dollar ambition has become one of the administration’s major economic targets, with government officials repeatedly pointing to reforms, investment and stronger economic growth as the foundation for achieving it.
The Federal Government has also outlined a roadmap targeting sustained annual growth as it seeks to move the economy toward the $1 trillion milestone.
Recent economic data and government statements have been used by officials to argue that Nigeria is moving in the right direction, although the administration continues to face public scrutiny over inflation, living costs, unemployment and the impact of reforms on households.
Tinubu’s latest statement therefore places the $1 trillion ambition firmly back at the centre of the administration’s economic narrative.
