US President Donald Trump has joined tributes following the death of country music legend Dolly Parton, who died at 80 on Tuesday.

Parton’s death has prompted widespread reactions across the United States and beyond, with tributes highlighting her extraordinary contribution to music, entertainment and philanthropy.

The legendary singer-songwriter built a career spanning more than six decades and became one of the world’s most recognisable country music figures.

She was celebrated for songs including Jolene and I Will Always Love You, while her philanthropic work, particularly children’s literacy through the Imagination Library, expanded her influence beyond music.

The death of Parton comes after the passing of her husband, Carl Dean, in 2025. She had continued to maintain a connection with her fans despite becoming less visible publicly in recent years.

Parton’s legacy now extends across music, film, business and charitable work, with tributes expected to continue as fans and public figures reflect on her contribution to American culture.
