The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

Oyetola made the declaration as the APC intensified its final campaign activities ahead of the August 15 poll.

The former Osun governor urged APC supporters to remain committed to the party and its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, as the election approaches.

Addressing party supporters, Oyetola expressed optimism that the APC would emerge victorious at the polls.

He said the party’s supporters would have cause to celebrate after the election, declaring: “We will laugh while they cry on Saturday.”

The statement comes amid an increasingly competitive election in which Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, is seeking another term, while Oyebamiji is campaigning to return the APC to power in the state.

The APC has mobilised several of its national leaders and governors to Osun as part of its final push ahead of Saturday’s election.

The development has further heightened political activity across the state as the major parties seek to consolidate their support base before voters head to the polls.
