Chief Joseph Ebere Ezeokafor, father of popular social media personality Jowizaza, has regained his freedom after being abducted by armed men in Anambra State.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the release and safe return of Ezeokafor, who was abducted alongside a Reverend Sister at Ifite-Awka.

Ezeokafor, an Anambra businessman and chairman of Jezco Group, was reportedly abducted on August 4 while heading to a prayer ground in Awka, according to reports.

His release brings an end to days of uncertainty surrounding his whereabouts and the circumstances of his abduction.

A Reverend Sister who was reportedly abducted during the same incident was also released.

The circumstances surrounding their release were not immediately clear, although reports have emerged concerning ransom demands made by the kidnappers during the period of captivity.

The case has attracted significant attention because of Ezeokafor’s prominence as a businessman and his relationship with Jowizaza, a well-known Nigerian social media personality.

The latest development is expected to renew attention on kidnapping and insecurity in parts of Anambra State, where criminal gangs have continued to pose security challenges.

The police have yet to provide full details of the operation or circumstances that led to the victims’ release.
