Former Kogi West Senator and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Dino Melaye has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lose the 2027 presidential election, urging the President and members of his family to prepare to leave the Presidential Villa.
Melaye made the statement during an interview on Arise Television on Monday as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The former lawmaker expressed confidence that the ADC would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that growing dissatisfaction with the Tinubu administration would influence voters at the polls.
Melaye pointed to what he described as widespread hunger, insecurity, corruption and poor governance as evidence of a growing disconnect between the government and Nigerians.
He claimed that the ADC’s strategy for the election was straightforward because, in his assessment, many Nigerians were already seeking a change of government.
The ADC chieftain also criticised the administration over its handling of the economy and accused the government of failing to adequately implement its budgets.
He went further by telling Tinubu and his family to begin preparing for their departure from Aso Rock.
Melaye said the result of the 2027 election would produce a change of government, expressing confidence that the ADC would emerge victorious.
His comments represent the position of an opposition politician and should not be treated as an independent assessment of the likely outcome of the election.
The 2027 presidential contest is already attracting increasingly aggressive rhetoric from competing political camps, with the APC defending Tinubu’s record while opposition parties campaign on economic hardship, insecurity and governance concerns.
Melaye has emerged as one of the ADC’s most vocal figures since joining the party and has frequently attacked the ruling administration.
His latest comments add to the increasingly combative political atmosphere ahead of the next presidential election.
