The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned President Bola Tinubu about the potential political consequences of the release of records reportedly held by United States law-enforcement agencies.
Ayodele said the President should explore every available legal avenue to prevent the release of the documents, claiming that their publication could create difficulties for the administration.
“President Tinubu should do everything possible to stop the FBI from releasing these documents because it could cost him a lot,” the cleric said.
His comments come amid an ongoing controversy over requests for historical US government records relating to investigations involving Tinubu.
The records have become a significant political issue in Nigeria, particularly as political parties and presidential hopefuls prepare for the 2027 election.
Opposition figures have repeatedly demanded the release of the documents, while Tinubu’s legal representatives have challenged efforts to make some of the records public.
However, claims about what the documents contain should be treated separately from the legal proceedings surrounding their release.
Ayodele’s comments represent his political assessment of the possible consequences and do not, by themselves, establish the contents of any unreleased FBI records.
