Millionaire businessman and former Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hawasi was injured after masked intruders forced their way into his Mayfair mansion in what police believe was an attempted robbery.

The 57-year-old Kuwaiti national was reportedly in bed when the suspects broke into his central London residence. During a confrontation inside his bedroom, Al-Hawasi sustained injuries to his hand and neck while attempting to fend off the attackers.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that his injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing. An investigation is ongoing.

It remains unclear whether the intruders made away with valuables from the property, including jewellery or luxury watches frequently displayed by the businessman on social media.

Al-Hawasi’s legal representatives have urged police to provide further details about the suspects, citing safety concerns among visitors from the Arabian Gulf in the wake of the incident.

His sister, Khawla Mubarak Al-Hasawi, shared a message on social media reassuring the public about his condition, stating that he was recovering and expressing gratitude for his safety.

Al-Hawasi previously owned Nottingham Forest Football Club, purchasing the side in 2012 before selling it in 2017 to Evangelos Marinakis. His tenure was marked by significant managerial changes during a turbulent period for the club.

The incident comes amid a string of reported high-profile burglaries in the United Kingdom. Authorities are continuing investigations into separate recent cases involving public figures, though police have not indicated any link between the incidents.

Security agencies say efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the Mayfair break-in.
