Security operatives intercept suspected cult clash before outbreak of bloodshed in Edo communities

Security operatives in Edo State have arrested 12 suspected cultists in a major crackdown aimed at preventing a violent confrontation between rival groups.

The suspects were picked up during an intelligence-led operation following reports of a planned attack that could have escalated into deadly clashes in parts of the state.

The operation was carried out in strategic locations across Edo State, Nigeria, where cult-related violence has remained a persistent security challenge over the years.

According to preliminary findings, the suspects were allegedly mobilising for a coordinated attack when they were intercepted by security forces. Dangerous weapons were reportedly recovered during the raid.

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed that investigations are ongoing, adding that efforts are being intensified to dismantle cult networks operating within the state.

Residents have praised the swift response but are urging authorities to sustain pressure on criminal groups to prevent a resurgence of cult-related violence.
