Social Media Activist Blasts Presidency as Fresh Drama Erupts Over Alleged Fake Tinubu Audio
Popular social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has sparked another online storm after fiercely responding to comments made by Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.
The controversy erupted after the Presidency accused VDM of allegedly circulating fake audio linked to President Bola Tinubu. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, insisted the activist should face the law for allegedly spreading misinformation online.
But VDM wasted no time firing back. In a strongly worded reaction that has since gone viral, the controversial activist declared that he was fully prepared for any legal confrontation. He insisted he would not back down, maintaining that citizens have the constitutional right to criticise government actions in a democracy.
The heated exchange has ignited massive debate across Nigerian social media, with supporters and critics clashing over freedom of speech, misinformation, and the increasing tension between influencers and government officials. Some Nigerians defended the Presidency’s stance on fake content, while others accused authorities of attempting to silence dissenting voices online.
The alleged audio at the centre of the controversy reportedly contained claims attributed to President Tinubu concerning insecurity and politics. Presidency officials insist the recording was manipulated and misleading.
As the drama unfolds, the confrontation between VeryDarkMan and the Presidency is quickly becoming one of the biggest political-social media clashes currently dominating conversations across Nigeria’s digital space.
