Chelsea are considering a late move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez after the Argentine was reportedly offered to the London club.
According to reports, intermediaries have approached Chelsea over a possible transfer for the 33-year-old goalkeeper, with Villa prepared to consider offers below £10 million.
Martínez’s future at Villa has become increasingly uncertain following the club’s arrival of Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who is expected to compete for the No. 1 position.
The Argentine had previously expressed a desire to take on a new challenge, while a proposed move to Juventus also failed to materialise this summer.
Chelsea’s interest comes after renewed scrutiny of their goalkeeping options.
However, the proposed move is not yet a completed transfer. Reports currently indicate that Chelsea are considering the opportunity and that discussions have taken place around a potential deal.
If completed, the move would give Chelsea an experienced goalkeeper who won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina and has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most recognisable goalkeepers.
