The Ogun State Police Command says two suspects arrested in Ijebu-Ode are connected to an ongoing kidnapping and murder investigation involving two hostages in Edo State.
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspects in Ijebu-Ode over their alleged connection to a kidnapping and murder case under investigation in Edo State.
The suspects, identified as Gafaru Adamu, 25, and Muhammed Sanni, 20, were apprehended in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode following intelligence-led operations carried out by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
According to the police, preliminary findings linked the suspects to the abduction and killing of two hostages in the Okada area of Edo State. Investigators also believe the duo may be members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate connected to the case.
In a statement issued by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command disclosed that one pair of police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones were recovered from the suspects during the operation.
The police said the recovered items have been documented and taken into custody to support ongoing investigations.
The arrests add to growing concerns surrounding the spread of organized kidnapping networks operating across multiple states, a development that has continued to place pressure on inter-state security coordination and intelligence gathering among law enforcement agencies.
The command noted that the alleged offences were committed outside Ogun State and confirmed that the suspects, alongside the recovered exhibits, would be transferred to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution in line with established inter-state policing procedures.
Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended officers involved in the operation, describing the arrests as a major breakthrough achieved through intelligence-driven policing.
He also reiterated the command’s commitment to preventing Ogun State from becoming a safe route or operational base for criminal groups.
