Suspected bandits reportedly raided Kuda-Kuda village in Goronyo LGA of Sokoto State, killing the community’s Chief Imam and three other residents during a night attack.

Suspected bandits have reportedly killed the Chief Imam of Kuda-Kuda village in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State, along with three other residents, in a fresh overnight attack on the community.

The attack, which occurred late Tuesday into Wednesday, has left the village under renewed strain as details emerging from the area indicate that the assailants stormed the community and opened a new chapter in the insecurity confronting parts of Sokoto State. Reports identified the slain cleric as Liman Audu, while the attack was also said to have claimed three other residents. Some reports added that several residents, including married women, were abducted during the raid.

The development adds to the pattern of recurring rural attacks in parts of the North-West, where communities continue to contend with raids, killings and abductions carried out by armed groups. In Kuda-Kuda, the killing of a community religious leader underscores the depth of the disruption such attacks leave behind, particularly in villages already vulnerable to repeated violence.

No official statement from the Sokoto State Government or security agencies was included in the reports reviewed, but the incident has again drawn attention to the security situation in Goronyo and surrounding communities.

For now, the reported position is that the Chief Imam and three other residents were killed in the attack, with further details still tied to updates coming from the area.
