The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old woman, Maimunatu Idris, from Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa State, over the alleged assault of her boyfriend at Durbar Hotel in Badawa, Kano.
Police said the incident occurred on Sunday when the suspect allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp knife, causing severe injuries, including the complete severing of his genital organ. The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.
Police Launch Investigation
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspect has been taken into custody while detectives continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police said the case would be thoroughly investigated before the suspect is charged to court if sufficient evidence is established.
Alleged Motive Emerges
Preliminary reports indicate that the altercation may have been linked to a disagreement after the woman allegedly discovered that her boyfriend intended to marry another woman.
However, police have not officially confirmed the motive and say investigations are ongoing.
Victim Receiving Treatment
Authorities confirmed that the injured man was taken to a specialist medical facility for emergency treatment.
Police urged members of the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands and encouraged peaceful resolution of disputes through lawful means.
