Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the national leadership of the Accord Party have formally adopted President Bola Tinubu as their preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, citing the need for continuity on key infrastructure and development projects.
Governor Ademola Adeleke and the national leadership of the Accord Party have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The decision followed a meeting between Adeleke and senior officials of the party in Osogbo, Osun State, where they discussed the party’s political direction, preparations for the forthcoming Osun governorship election and national issues.
Why Tinubu Was Endorsed
According to a statement issued by Adeleke’s re-election campaign spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the party believes President Tinubu should be given the opportunity to complete major infrastructure projects currently underway across the country.
Among the projects cited were the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, which the party described as legacy projects with long-term national benefits.
Call for Peace Ahead of Osun Poll
The meeting also focused on preparations for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
Party leaders warned against electoral violence, intimidation, manipulation and the misuse of security agencies, urging all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and credible election.
Political Significance
The endorsement comes as political realignments continue ahead of the 2027 general election, with parties and political figures positioning themselves for alliances and electoral contests across the country.
