Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning to manipulate the August 15 governorship election, following comments attributed to former governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Adeleke said Oyetola’s statement ahead of the election suggested that the APC was preparing to rig the poll in its favour.

The governor urged relevant authorities and Nigerians to pay close attention to the electoral process, warning against any attempt to undermine the will of Osun voters.

The accusation comes just days before the governorship election, with Adeleke seeking another term in office against APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and other contenders.

The Osun election has attracted heightened political and security attention, with various political figures and groups calling for a peaceful and credible exercise.

Adeleke has previously warned that Osun residents would resist any attempt to rig the election, while security agencies have announced extensive deployments ahead of the poll.

The governor’s latest allegation adds to growing political tension in the state as parties enter the final phase of their campaigns and mobilisation.
