Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to protect the integrity of votes cast during Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.
The appeal came as voting ended and the process moved into counting and collation across the state.
Adeleke urged relevant authorities to ensure that votes freely cast by residents are protected throughout the collation process.
The governor’s call came amid heightened political attention surrounding the election, with the contest between the Accord Party and APC drawing significant national interest.
As results began emerging, Adeleke maintained an early advantage in several polling units, although the final outcome remained undecided.
The governor also urged residents and political supporters to remain calm and peaceful while awaiting the completion of the official process.
INEC has continued uploading polling-unit results to its IReV portal as collation progresses across the state.
