Senate President Godswill Akpabio has described the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State as an assault on the nation’s collective humanity.
In a statement, Akpabio said the country mourns because the inability to protect children places the future at risk.
He also warned that a nation unable to guarantee the safety of teachers weakens the foundations of its educational system.
According to him, as long as the abducted children remain in captivity, the nation itself remains captive with them.
His remarks reflect growing concern over the impact of insecurity on schools and educational communities.
