An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and philanthropist from Ekiti State, Harrison Alonge, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election.
Alonge made the prediction while speaking with journalists at his country home in Ikere-Ekiti over the weekend.
He attributed his confidence to what he described as the administration’s economic reforms, improved investor confidence and infrastructure development across Nigeria.
The APC chieftain argued that Nigerians should support Tinubu’s re-election bid to allow the government to consolidate its policies and continue delivering what it describes as the dividends of democracy.
He also cited projects such as the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway as examples of the administration’s infrastructure programme.
Alonge Calls for Continuity
Alonge maintained that continuity would give the administration more time to pursue its economic and infrastructure agenda.
He said the government’s performance should be a major consideration for voters as political parties prepare for the next presidential contest.
The APC chieftain also argued that the economic changes introduced by the administration should be assessed in the context of the long-term adjustments required to reform the country’s economy.
However, his position reflects the view of a ruling-party supporter rather than an independent assessment of the election’s likely outcome.
Economic Conditions Remain Central to Debate
Tinubu’s economic policies, including changes affecting public finances, the foreign exchange market and energy prices, remain central to the debate over his administration’s performance.
Supporters point to reforms and infrastructure projects as reasons to maintain policy continuity, while critics emphasise the pressures many households and businesses continue to face.
The electoral implications of these competing assessments will depend on how voters evaluate the government’s record and the alternatives offered by opposition parties.
Alonge’s prediction adds to the growing campaign rhetoric surrounding the 2027 election, but the outcome will ultimately be determined by voters.
