Gunmen reportedly storm Katsina community shortly after Friday prayers, leaving multiple casualties feared.

At least 16 persons are feared dead following a fresh attack by suspected bandits on a community in Katsina State shortly after Juma’at prayers.

According to local reports, the armed attackers invaded the community and opened fire, causing panic as residents fled for safety.

The incident is said to have occurred shortly after Muslim faithful concluded Friday congregational prayers, worsening fears over repeated insecurity in the region.

Authorities are yet to release an official casualty figure or detailed statement on the attack, but the incident adds to the growing list of violent attacks in parts of northern Nigeria.

Security agencies are expected to launch an investigation into the assault as residents continue to count losses.
