Senators Victor Umeh, Tony Nwoye, and Chief Ebuka Onunkwo emerge as NDC senatorial flagbearers after peaceful primaries in Anambra.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has concluded its senatorial primaries in Anambra State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Senators Victor Umeh and Tony Nwoye, alongside Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, emerging as candidates for the three senatorial districts.
According to reports, Senator Victor Umeh secured the party’s ticket for Anambra Central, while Senator Tony Nwoye clinched the Anambra North senatorial ticket. Chief Ebuka Onunkwo emerged as the party’s flagbearer for Anambra South Senatorial District.
The primaries, conducted across the state using the Option A4 system, were described by party officials as peaceful and credible, with a notable turnout of party members. The exercise also produced candidates for the House of Representatives and the Anambra State House of Assembly elections.
Speaking after the exercise, the Anambra State Chairman of the NDC, Ikem Uzoezie, commended the process, describing it as one of the most orderly primaries conducted in the state. He congratulated successful aspirants while urging unity among party members.
Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, speaking on behalf of the winners, praised the peaceful conduct of the exercise and pledged commitment to delivering better representation for the people of Anambra State.
The party leadership has also reiterated its commitment to internal democracy and transparent candidate selection as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
