Gunmen attacked Odo-Ere in Yagba West Local Government Area, leaving an NSCDC officer dead and his daughter abducted.
A personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), identified simply as Mr. Ayo, has been killed during a fresh bandit attack on Odo-Ere in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to reports, the attackers stormed the community on Monday evening and shot the officer in the head during the assault. He was later rushed to a medical facility but was confirmed dead on arrival.
The gunmen reportedly abducted the officer’s daughter before fleeing the area, deepening concerns among residents over the security situation in the community.
Sources familiar with the incident said the deceased officer’s remains have been deposited in a mortuary following the attack.
The incident adds to growing reports of armed attacks and abductions affecting communities in parts of the country, particularly rural areas facing repeated security breaches.
As of the time of reporting, no official statement had been issued on the latest attack, while the whereabouts of the abducted daughter remain unclear.
