Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that he constantly asks his wife to pray for President Bola Tinubu’s continued support, saying no minister can succeed without the confidence and backing of the President. He made the remarks while commissioning the Water Supply Network to Bwari Satellite Town in Abuja.

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has said the key to delivering results in government is having the full support of President Bola Tinubu, revealing that he regularly asks his wife to pray that the President continues to stand behind him.

The former Rivers State governor made the remark on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Water Supply Network to Bwari Satellite Town in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

According to Wike, his experience as both a state governor and a minister has convinced him that effective governance depends largely on the confidence and support of the President.

He said that every morning he tells his wife—whom he described as someone who prays a lot—to continue praying that President Tinubu does not withdraw his support for the FCT Administration.

Wike added that while he does not consider himself deeply prayerful, he believes his wife’s prayers have continued to sustain the administration’s relationship with the President.

The minister stressed that ministers can only perform effectively when they enjoy the confidence of the President.

He credited Tinubu’s support for the pace of infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory, noting that the administration has continued to receive approvals needed to execute major projects across Abuja.

Wike disclosed that the FCT Administration has officially commissioned 50 projects so far and plans to inaugurate 10 additional projects before January, ahead of the 2027 election campaign period.

He assured residents that the administration would continue to deliver infrastructure projects that improve transportation, water supply and public services across the territory.

The remarks offered a rare personal insight into Wike’s relationship with President Tinubu and his approach to public service. They also underscored the minister’s belief that strong presidential backing remains essential for delivering government projects and fulfilling ministerial responsibilities.
