The former Kano governor has initiated legal proceedings against the cleric over remarks he considers defamatory.

Former Kano State Governor and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has initiated legal action against Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church.

The suit stems from remarks made by the cleric which Kwankwaso considers defamatory.

According to available information, the legal action is connected to comments relating to political developments involving Labour Party figure Peter Obi.

The development moves a public dispute into the legal arena, where the issues raised by both parties may be subjected to judicial review.

Kwankwaso has formally approached the court seeking legal redress over the statements attributed to the cleric.
