Organisation says campaign activities will involve citizens and stakeholders across Nigeria
The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation has said its engagements ahead of the 2027 presidential election will focus on policy issues and broad-based consultations with citizens and stakeholders across the country.
The organisation disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja addressed by Tony Ehilebo, Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication to the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Governor Seyi Makinde.
Campaign approach
According to the organisation, its proposed engagements will be guided by issues affecting citizens and consultations with stakeholders across different parts of the country.
The statement comes as political parties and presidential aspirants intensify their preparations for the 2027 general elections.
An issue-based campaign would require candidates and their organisations to explain their positions on major national concerns, including economic development, security, education, healthcare, infrastructure and institutional reform.
Need for detailed policy proposals
While the organisation has described its approach as consultation-driven, further details are needed regarding its policy priorities, consultation timetable, proposed programmes and mechanisms for incorporating public feedback.
Political campaign commitments can be assessed through the clarity of their policy proposals, the evidence supporting their plans and the practical arrangements for implementation.
The organisation’s announcement adds to the growing political activity ahead of the 2027 presidential election, as parties and candidates seek to build nationwide support.
