Former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has denied allegations that he is avoiding investigations or refusing to honour invitations linked to an ongoing Senate probe.
Kyari described reports suggesting that he deliberately ignored the Senate Committee on Public Accounts as inaccurate, stating that lawmakers had already been informed about his medical trip abroad.
According to statements attributed to him, a formal communication had been sent to the committee notifying it of his health condition and willingness to appear before lawmakers upon his return to Nigeria.
The response followed reports surrounding an arrest warrant reportedly issued against the former NNPCL boss during ongoing legislative proceedings connected to investigations into the company’s financial records during his tenure.
Kyari maintained that he remains prepared to honour the invitation once medical treatment abroad is concluded.
The matter remains tied to continuing Senate scrutiny involving financial documentation and administrative records linked to the state oil company.
