The Chief of the Air Staff says the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at rescuing victims abducted during attacks on schools in Oyo State.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to securing the safe rescue of schoolchildren and teachers abducted during coordinated attacks on schools in Oyo State.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, gave the assurance during the Nigerian Air Force Second Quarter 2026 Route March Exercise in Abuja. Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdullahi, the Air Chief said the service remains fully committed to ongoing security operations across the country.

According to him, the Air Force will continue to work closely with other security agencies in efforts aimed at protecting lives, safeguarding communities and advancing national security objectives.

The assurance comes against the backdrop of the abduction of pupils and teachers during attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The incident has drawn national attention and intensified calls for the safe return of those still in captivity.

The situation remains a major security concern, particularly as authorities continue rescue efforts while families await the return of their loved ones. Recent reports indicate that rescue operations are still ongoing and that claims suggesting the victims had already been freed were dismissed by the police as false.

With multiple security agencies involved, the Air Force’s latest assurance signals continued federal efforts to secure the victims’ release and strengthen the response to emerging security threats in the region.
