The lawmaker used the name “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru” during plenary, but the choice of surname does not establish that the couple have separated.
Fresh speculation has emerged about the relationship between Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, and his wife, Natasha Osawaru, after the Edo State lawmaker introduced herself using the Osawaru surname during a legislative session.
Osawaru, who represents Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly and serves as the assembly’s minority leader, identified herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru” while addressing colleagues during plenary on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
A video of the session shared on her Instagram page drew public attention because her introduction did not include her husband’s surname, Idibia.
Her nameplate also displayed the Osawaru surname.
During the session, Osawaru spoke in support of a proposed bill aimed at strengthening emergency response in Edo State, arguing that the state needed a legally backed agency capable of responding proactively to emergencies.
The development attracted attention amid renewed public interest in the couple’s relationship.
In April 2025, Osawaru had introduced herself in the assembly as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osaworu, née Idibia,” according to earlier reporting. The difference between the two introductions has since prompted speculation about whether there has been a change in the couple’s relationship.
The couple married in July 2025 and have a child together, according to published reports.
What is known — and what remains unconfirmed
Osawaru’s use of her own surname is a verifiable detail from the legislative session. However, it does not, on its own, establish that she and 2Baba have separated or are experiencing marital difficulties.
Public speculation has also followed reports of the couple’s absence from certain events and a previously circulated video that appeared to show them in a heated exchange.
Neither circumstance should be treated as definitive proof of a separation without a clear statement from the couple or other reliable confirmation.
A person’s use of a professional, legal or family surname can have several explanations, and it is important not to infer the status of a marriage from a name introduction alone.
As of the reporting available for this article, the change in how Osawaru introduced herself has generated questions, but no confirmed separation announcement has been established.
