Senate President says lawmakers are aligning with executive push to stabilise Nigeria’s security and economy.

The National Assembly has pledged to accelerate critical security and economic reforms in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, as Nigeria continues to grapple with rising security concerns and economic pressure.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio made the declaration while addressing lawmakers, stressing that the legislature is committed to ensuring swift passage of policies aimed at stabilising the nation. According to him, the urgency reflects the need to respond decisively to Nigeria’s current challenges.

Akpabio noted that collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government remains key in delivering reforms that will impact national security architecture, economic recovery, and governance efficiency. He emphasised that delays in reform processes could worsen existing national pressures.

The Senate President added that lawmakers are prepared to work beyond political differences to prioritise national interest, especially in areas affecting citizens’ safety, food security, and economic stability.

The move is expected to shape upcoming legislative sessions as the National Assembly intensifies review of priority bills tied to national development.
