The Obidient Movement has questioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision not to personally attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, arguing that the explanation provided by the Presidency does not sufficiently address the decision.
In a statement issued by its Media and Communications Directorate, the group reportedly asked the President to explain why he chose not to represent Nigeria personally at the international gathering.
The Presidency has stated that Tinubu is on annual leave and that his attention is required by domestic priorities, including the economy and security. Information Minister Mohammed Idris also explained the President’s absence in comments.
The Government’s Explanation

The Obidient Movement, however, has questioned whether the explanation adequately addresses the importance of the United Nations gathering and the President’s earlier indications regarding attendance.
