The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a security guard, Emmanuel Ojo, over allegations that he stole two generators valued at ₦950,000 from his employer in Akure.
According to the police, Ojo allegedly used his position as a security guard to gain access to the generators before leaving Ondo State for Ogun State.
The generators were identified as a Fireman generator and a Honda generator.
Suspect Traced to Ogun
The police said the arrest followed a complaint from the suspect’s employer, after which detectives launched an investigation and began tracing Ojo.
Investigators eventually located and arrested him in Ogun State.
The command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, said the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation and provided information considered useful to the investigation.
Police subsequently charged him to court after completing the investigation, according to the command.
Police Continue Investigation
The case remains an allegation against the suspect unless established by a court.
The police said the investigation was part of wider efforts by the Ondo State Command to tackle property-related offences and other criminal activities across the state.
In a separate operation, the command also announced the arrest of two men it identified as suspected members of the Eiye confraternity in Ondo town.
The police said weapons and suspected illicit drugs were recovered during that operation, with investigations continuing.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that can assist security agencies in preventing and investigating crime.
