The Senate Leader and Chairman of the South-West Caucus in the National Assembly, Opeyemi Bamidele, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.
Bamidele said the APC would rely on its political structure and grassroots mobilisation rather than federal influence to secure victory at the polls.
The senator made the position known as the APC intensified its final campaign activities ahead of the August 15 election.
He argued that the party had built a strong political structure across Osun State capable of delivering victory for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
According to Bamidele, the APC does not need to rely on what opposition figures have described as “federal might” to win the election.
The party’s campaign has increasingly focused on its grassroots structures and mobilisation across the state as voting day approaches.
Bamidele said the APC was better positioned to reclaim Osun State and urged voters to support the party’s candidate.
The statement comes amid claims by opposition figures that the Federal Government and APC governors could influence the election.
Governor Adeleke and his supporters have repeatedly rejected such concerns, maintaining that Osun voters will determine the outcome of the election.
The APC, however, insists that its strength in the state is rooted in its political organisation and support base.
With the election now only days away, both major camps have intensified their final appeals to voters as the contest enters its decisive stage.
