A High Court in Jos has remanded four suspects over the March 2026 killings in Plateau State, as prosecutors pursue terrorism-related charges.
A Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos has ordered the remand of four suspects in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) over their alleged involvement in deadly attacks that rocked parts of the state in March 2026.
The suspects are accused of playing roles in the violence that struck communities in Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas, including Angwan Rukuba, where at least 30 people were killed.
During proceedings, the court adjourned the case to allow the defendants secure legal representation, as their arraignment could not proceed due to the absence of defence counsel.
Presiding over the matter, the judge granted the prosecution’s request that the suspects remain in DSS custody to enable continued investigation and ensure access for further legal processes.
The suspects are facing charges including criminal conspiracy and terrorism under Plateau State law, with prosecutors alleging they were involved in planning and facilitating the attacks that led to multiple deaths.
Authorities say the arrests were carried out by DSS operatives between early and mid-April, following intensified security operations after the killings.
The March 28 attacks triggered widespread condemnation from government officials and renewed concerns over persistent violence in Plateau State. President Bola Tinubu had earlier assured affected communities that those responsible would be brought to justice.
The court is expected to proceed with formal arraignment in subsequent hearings as investigations continue into the killings.
