Socialite’s political ambition suffers major setback after defeat in APC primary contest.

Popular nightlife entrepreneur and celebrity barman Cubana Chief Priest has reportedly lost the APC primary election for a House of Representatives seat, dealing a major blow to his rising political ambition.

The businessman, who also serves as a coordinator of the South-East City Boy Movement, had generated massive online attention after openly aligning himself with the ruling APC and publicly supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Supporters had expected the celebrity figure to secure the party ticket due to his strong social media influence and visible grassroots mobilisation. However, the outcome of the primary reportedly shocked many of his followers.

Political observers say the defeat highlights the growing reality that social media popularity does not always translate into electoral success within Nigeria’s highly competitive party structure.

Despite the setback, many supporters believe the socialite may remain active in politics ahead of future elections, especially given his influence among young Nigerians and entertainment circles.
