Tinubu Gives Green Light As Nigeria Lands Major African Football Events
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially approved Nigeria’s hosting of the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly alongside the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony.
The confirmation was announced following a high-level meeting involving President Tinubu and CAF President Patrice Motsepe during the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.
According to reports, the CAF General Assembly is scheduled for October 2026 and will bring together football stakeholders from CAF’s 54 member nations, including football federation presidents and top administrators across Africa.
The CAF Awards ceremony — one of Africa’s biggest football events — will also be hosted in Nigeria, further strengthening the country’s role in continental football administration and sports tourism.
