Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office at a critical period in Nigeria’s history, arguing that the administration’s economic reforms are beginning to address long-standing national challenges.
Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, saying the President came into office when Nigeria most needed decisive action to confront its economic difficulties.
Okowa made the remarks in Asaba while receiving members of Working People United (WPU), where he urged Nigerians to support ongoing reforms being implemented by the Federal Government.
Backs Tinubu’s Economic Reforms
According to Okowa, the Tinubu administration has introduced bold policies aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy, including the removal of fuel subsidy, electricity sector reforms and other fiscal measures.
He argued that these policies have improved the financial position of states and local governments, enabling them to undertake more development projects.
Highlights Student Loan Programme
Okowa also commended the Federal Government’s National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), noting that many Nigerian students have benefited from the initiative.
He encouraged citizens who are still sceptical about the programme to take advantage of it, describing it as one of the administration’s key interventions in the education sector.
Calls for Continued Support
The former governor urged Nigerians to remain patient with the ongoing reforms, expressing confidence that the policies would produce greater economic stability and long-term national development.
His comments come as political debates intensify ahead of the 2027 general election, with supporters and critics offering contrasting assessments of the Tinubu administration.
