President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held a high-level security meeting with the nation’s military commanders and intelligence chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as the Federal Government intensified efforts to address the country’s security challenges.

The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, brought together the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, heads of intelligence agencies and other senior security officials for a comprehensive review of the nation’s security architecture.

Sources familiar with the meeting said discussions focused on the security situation across various parts of the country, including counter-terrorism operations, anti-banditry campaigns, kidnapping and other emerging security threats.

The President was reportedly briefed on ongoing military operations, intelligence gathering, and coordinated efforts by security agencies to improve public safety.

The meeting also reviewed current operational strategies and measures aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity nationwide.

The emergency meeting comes amid renewed security concerns following attacks in parts of northern Nigeria and continued military operations against terrorist and criminal groups.

President Tinubu has repeatedly held strategic engagements with military and intelligence chiefs since assuming office, maintaining that improving national security remains one of his administration’s top priorities.

Although details of the deliberations were not immediately made public, the meeting is expected to shape further security measures and operational directives for the Armed Forces and other security agencies.

The Presidency is expected to provide additional information if new policy decisions or operational directives emerge from the meeting.

The latest security meeting underscores the Federal Government’s continued focus on addressing insecurity through coordinated military and intelligence operations. As security agencies sustain offensive operations across the country, Nigerians will be watching closely for the outcomes of the President’s latest consultations with the nation’s top security leadership.
