Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has said federal interventions under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, combined with the performance of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, will generate substantial support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Fanwo made the statement while discussing the relationship between the Federal Government and Kogi State and highlighting projects and interventions in the state.
He cited infrastructure, security, transportation, economic development and strategic investments as areas where he said residents could see the impact of government programmes.
Federal projects highlighted
According to Fanwo, federal interventions include reconstruction of major highways, support for security operations and development of strategic economic infrastructure.
He also pointed to projects associated with Kogi’s economic development, including the Kogi International Airport and the Ajaokuta Economic City.
The commissioner argued that the combination of federal and state projects had created opportunities for residents and strengthened cooperation between Abuja and Lokoja.
At the state level, Fanwo cited investments by the Ododo administration in roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, security and rural development.
APC campaign message
Fanwo linked the projects and interventions directly to the APC’s political campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
He argued that the party would use the record of the Tinubu and Ododo administrations in Kogi as part of its engagement with voters.
He also said continuity in the federal-state relationship would be important to completing ongoing projects and expanding economic opportunities.
The comments are part of the APC’s campaign messaging and represent the assessment of a serving state government official. Whether the interventions translate into electoral support will ultimately be determined by voters at the polls.
Focus on development
Fanwo said political discussions should be accompanied by attention to development outcomes, arguing that residents were interested in projects and policies that affect their daily lives.
He cited roads, airport development, economic corridors and investment opportunities as areas where continued government intervention could affect Kogi’s future development.
The APC is expected to intensify its campaign activities as the 2027 election approaches, while opposition parties will also present their own assessments of the federal and state governments’ records.
