A former supply teacher in the United Kingdom has been jailed for six years after admitting to secretly photographing schoolgirls beneath their clothing and creating sexualised images of pupils using artificial intelligence.
According to the supplied case details, Abdul Rahman, 37, committed the offences while working at several schools in Greater Manchester between December 2023 and June 2025.
He used his mobile phone to take upskirting photographs of pupils and created sexualised images using photographs obtained from social media.
The case involved girls aged between 13 and 16 at schools in Bury, Bolton and Salford.
The offending came to light after a parent reportedly discovered sexualised images involving her daughter’s school photograph on social media, prompting further investigation.
Rahman admitted 21 offences, including taking indecent photographs of children, publishing obscene material, making indecent images of children, voyeurism and distributing an indecent image of a child.
Detective Constable Lisa McGaffin of Greater Manchester Police described the case as deeply concerning, highlighting the growing challenges posed by the misuse of artificial intelligence to create abusive imagery.
Prosecutor Alexandra Mann said Rahman had abused his position as a teacher and described the conduct as a serious breach of trust.
The court sentenced Rahman to six years in prison. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register and banned from working in schools for 20 years, according to the supplied report.
The case has renewed concerns about safeguarding in schools and the misuse of AI tools to produce sexualised images of children.
It also highlights the importance of protecting pupils’ privacy, reporting suspected abuse and ensuring that schools and law-enforcement agencies can respond effectively to technology-facilitated offences.
Authorities and safeguarding professionals continue to face the challenge of addressing AI-generated abuse while protecting victims from further exposure or circulation of harmful material.
