“I refused to be ordinary,” Kintum said while reflecting on the mindset that shaped her academic journey.

A consistent First Class performance

According to Kintum’s account, she maintained First Class standing from her first year through her final year at the University of Benin.

Her academic record was further strengthened by several awards recognising her performance across different stages of the programme.

She received the Prof. Chianu’s Prize for Best Student in Land Law at 400 Level and was recognised as Best Student in Commercial Law and Oil & Gas Law.

She was also named Best Student in 400 Level.

Beyond the individual awards, Kintum said her academic journey was shaped by a determination to give her best throughout the five-year programme.

From aspiration to achievement

Reflecting on the beginning of her journey, Kintum recalled reading The Last Days at Forcados High by H. Mohammed Ali while in SS3.

She said the experience inspired her to aspire towards becoming an all-round student.

Her eventual graduation with First Class Honours represents the culmination of that ambition.

Kintum’s story has subsequently attracted attention online, particularly among Nigerian students and young people celebrating academic excellence.

Her experience offers another example of the demanding academic path required to maintain exceptional results throughout a university programme.
