US Representative John James calls for adherence to constitutional and international human rights standards in Kanu’s legal proceedings.

A member of the United States House of Representatives, John James, has urged the Nigerian government to ensure that all legal proceedings involving Nnamdi Kanu strictly follow constitutional provisions and internationally recognised human rights standards.

James’ statement highlights concerns over the treatment and legal handling of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). While no new legal developments were reported, the call draws attention to the global interest in the fairness and transparency of Nigeria’s judicial processes.

The recommendation places renewed attention on the broader issue of international scrutiny in high-profile cases, underscoring expectations for adherence to both domestic law and universal human rights norms.

At this stage, Nigerian authorities have yet to issue a response to the US lawmaker’s call. The matter remains under judicial consideration.
