Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy is set to bring African music to the fictional streets of Grand Theft Auto VI after being announced as one of the hosts of the game’s in-game radio stations.

Rockstar Games unveiled details of the radio line-up on Thursday, October 8, confirming that Burna Boy will host AfroBank FM alongside British DJ and producer Palms Trax.

The station is designed to showcase African music, giving players access to sounds from the continent as they explore the game’s virtual world. The announcement places one of Nigeria’s most internationally recognised contemporary musicians within one of the most anticipated video-game releases of 2026.

The inclusion represents another point of intersection between African music and global entertainment platforms, as Afrobeats continues to expand its international audience through streaming services, live performances, film and gaming.

Burna Boy, whose music has earned him a substantial following beyond Nigeria, joins a line-up of artists and entertainers selected to give the game’s radio stations distinct musical identities.

Rockstar’s announcement also confirmed other notable hosts. Bad Bunny and RaiNao will lead Cocoteo FM, while Robyn and model Alex Consani will host Flash FM. Metal musicians Kerry King and Tom Araya will feature on Chamber 106.6, while Trick Daddy and Trina will host Dirty South Classics. Morgan Wallen and Lana Del Rey are among the names associated with Back Country Radio.

The breadth of the line-up reflects the long-standing role of radio in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, where in-game stations help establish atmosphere, introduce players to different genres and shape the experience of exploring the game’s world.

For African music, AfroBank FM offers another opportunity to reach listeners through a major entertainment release, potentially introducing Burna Boy and other African artists to players who may not routinely follow the continent’s music scene.

The announcement comes ahead of the planned November 19, 2026, release of Grand Theft Auto VI, according to the published coverage of Rockstar’s radio-station reveal.

While the full experience will depend on the final game and its available music catalogue, Burna Boy’s selection as a station host is a notable recognition of the growing international profile of African music.

The development also underscores how video games have evolved beyond interactive entertainment into platforms that connect music, culture and global audiences.

For Burna Boy, the role adds another international platform to his career; for Afrobeats, it offers a fresh route into the listening habits of a global gaming audience.
