Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called on members of the City Boy Movement to intensify mobilisation efforts in support of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has urged women and youths under the City Boy Movement to strengthen grassroots mobilisation efforts aimed at securing the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Soludo made the call during an interaction with women coordinators of the movement at the Light House in Awka, where he emphasized the importance of active political participation by women and young people.
The governor said women and youths remain central to national development and should play a more direct role in shaping the country’s political future through organisation, engagement and strategic participation.
Reflecting on the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, Soludo noted that Tinubu emerged victorious despite receiving limited support from the South-East. The observation, he suggested, underscores the need for the region to approach future political engagements with greater strategic consideration.
“You should be active participants in shaping the narratives. You should not wait for somebody to build your future for you. We are in a new age where women are recognised for who they are and not merely as support groups,” he said.
The governor also commended the activities of the women’s wing of the City Boy Movement and praised members for their commitment and involvement.
According to him, politics should be viewed as a vehicle for societal advancement and an avenue through which citizens can secure meaningful benefits for their communities. He added that his administration has continued to create opportunities that encourage greater participation of women and youths in governance.
Soludo further stated that the future of coming generations depends on how effectively current political structures are organised and managed.
“The future of generations yet unborn is at stake. The movement must operate with a clear understanding of its role in coordinating activities in Anambra State,” he said.
He also encouraged the Igbo people to adopt a more strategic approach to political bargaining, stressing the importance of votes in democratic negotiations.
“In politics, people do not get what they deserve; they get what they bargain for. In a democracy, the principal currency for that bargain is the vote,” the governor stated.
Calling for stronger organisation and resource mobilisation, Soludo assured members of the movement of his support as they expand their activities ahead of the next election cycle.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Adaora Soludo said the City Boy Movement was established to promote and support the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration. She noted that the organisation seeks to bridge the gap between government and citizens while deepening awareness of government initiatives at the grassroots level.
As political mobilisation gradually intensifies ahead of 2027, the meeting highlighted the growing focus on grassroots structures and voter engagement across different parts of the country.
