Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Darma, has warned contractors handling federal housing projects that failure to meet contractual obligations could attract sanctions.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Darma, has expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work on several projects under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Housing Programme, warning that contractors responsible for delays may face sanctions.

Speaking after inspecting project sites, the minister said concerns had emerged over contractors who failed to complete projects within agreed timelines despite existing contractual commitments.

According to him, contractors who abandon projects or delay execution without formally obtaining extensions or approved variations are acting outside the terms of their agreements.

The warning reflects growing pressure on authorities overseeing the housing programme to ensure that projects are delivered according to schedule. The Renewed Hope Housing initiative remains one of the Federal Government’s flagship efforts aimed at expanding housing infrastructure across different parts of the country.

Darma stressed that contractual agreements are legally binding and must be respected by all parties involved in project delivery. He maintained that delays without proper administrative procedures undermine the objectives of the programme.

The minister’s position signals a stricter approach to project monitoring as the government continues inspections of ongoing housing developments nationwide.
