Former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke has proposed restricting Nigerians below the age of 18 from travelling abroad for educational purposes.

The proposal has sparked debate over parental choice, child development, Nigeria’s education system and the growing practice of sending children overseas for secondary and pre-university education.

Duke’s argument centres on the need for Nigerian children to receive foundational education and development within the country before pursuing opportunities abroad.
