The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed as false a viral social media claim alleging that it is secretly recruiting new personnel. The anti-graft agency warned Nigerians to ignore the misleading posts, stressing that all recruitment exercises are publicly announced through its official communication channels.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has cautioned Nigerians against falling victim to a fresh recruitment scam circulating on social media.
In a statement issued via its verified X account, the commission described reports of an alleged “secret recruitment exercise” as fake, urging members of the public to disregard the misleading information.
To counter the viral post, the EFCC released a graphic boldly marked “FAKE NEWS” with the warning “THIS IS FALSE NEWS. BEWARE!”
The commission explained that the false message claimed it had quietly begun recruiting personnel and urged interested applicants to send anonymous messages to secure employment opportunities. The EFCC said the information did not originate from the agency.
The anti-graft agency reiterated that it does not conduct secret recruitment exercises and does not engage third parties or unofficial intermediaries in its hiring process.
According to the EFCC, whenever vacancies exist, they are announced transparently through its official website and verified social media platforms. The commission advised Nigerians to verify employment information only through its official channels before taking any action.
The commission noted that fake recruitment notices have become a common tactic used by fraudsters to exploit job seekers.
It warned members of the public not to pay money, submit sensitive personal information or engage with unofficial recruitment advertisements, stressing that doing so could expose them to fraud.
The EFCC urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious recruitment claims to the appropriate authorities. It reaffirmed its commitment to conducting any future recruitment process transparently and in accordance with due process.
