Media aide Muyiwa Adekeye alleges the former Kaduna governor is suffering a worsening eye condition while in ICPC detention.
Concerns have emerged over the health condition of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following allegations that he has been denied access to medical care while in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The allegation was made by Muyiwa Adekeye, media aide to the former governor, who claimed that El-Rufai is suffering from a deteriorating eye condition while in detention.
According to Adekeye, two ICPC officials reportedly examined El-Rufai’s eyes and observed the condition, which he said should ordinarily have prompted medical attention or a hospital evaluation.
He further alleged that no treatment was arranged afterwards. Adekeye also accused an official identified as Henry, said to have been seconded to the ICPC from another agency, of falsely informing a family member that El-Rufai did not wish to see a doctor.
The aide maintained that the commission was treating the former governor “as if he is without rights” and failing in its duty of care while he remains in custody.
The claims add another layer to the ongoing attention surrounding El-Rufai’s detention and the wider legal developments connected to the matter. As of the time of reporting, the allegations remain those of his aide.
