The suspects were arrested after a viral video showed armed men in military camouflage displaying rifles and communication devices.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers who appeared in a viral video openly brandishing AK-47 rifles, ammunition and walkie-talkies while dressed in military camouflage.

The arrests followed an investigation launched after the footage circulated widely online and raised fresh concerns about criminal activity around the nation’s capital.

According to police authorities, the suspects were identified as Umar Babangida, Adamu Yeti and Yahaya Idris, all reportedly from Rijana in Kaduna State.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the weapons allegedly came from a gang leader identified simply as “Esco,” who remains at large.

The development reflects the increasing role of digital evidence in ongoing security operations, especially at a time when public anxiety around kidnapping and armed violence remains high across several parts of the country.

The FCT Police Command said forensic analysis and intelligence tracking were deployed immediately after the video surfaced, leading to the suspects’ arrest.

Investigators also reportedly recovered additional videos and photographs from the suspects’ phones showing them posing with firearms and communication equipment while wearing military camouflage.

Police authorities say efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the network, including the alleged gang leader still on the run.
